Who are we?

High Altitude Roller Derby was founded in 2011 by a group of friends who taught themselves not only how to roller derby, but also how to skate. In 2012, we began to grow as a league and received the support and shared knowledge from other Arizona roller derby leagues.

Fast forward, and you’ve got a league who’s resilient and determined as heck to make sure that roller derby continues in Flagstaff. Our return after the pandemic has not deterred our goal to create an inclusive space where all people feel affirmed and challenged.

We strive to foster community, just as community fostered us. Derby is for all bodies and all personalities. Help us represent our mountain-town league to the rest of the state, the U.S. and the world!

Dark Sky Starlets

The Dark Sky Starlets is HARD’s Internationally ranked traveling team. Starlets are committed to teaching league members new skills and game-play strategies. The Starlets have played all over the US such as California, Colorado, Montana, and Georgia. We are excited to build back this team and represent Flagstaff, Arizona.

Supernovas

The Supernovas is HARD’s B-team. These skaters travel and play against teams in Arizona and the Southwest.

Interskate 928 and Belladonnas

These two teams are our “Home Teams.” When we have charity or C-level bouts, we are HARD vs. HARD. Both teams have a mix of Starlet, Supernova, and recent Fresh Meat. These bouts are usually themed and are fun to watch!
